Brunswick Purple Rhino Pro Bowling Ball
The Purple Rhino is one of the most recognized names in bowling. For many bowlers, it was their first reactive resin ball. The Purple Rhino Pro brings that classic back for today's game, with a design focused on control rather than raw hook.
Today's oil patterns are tougher and rev rates keep climbing, so the strongest ball in the bag isn't always the right one. The Purple Rhino Pro uses a thick-shell design with a higher RG and lower differential than many modern performance balls. It gets down the lane easily, reads the midlane smoothly, and won't jump when it hits the dry. That predictable motion keeps you in play, helps you control the breakpoint, and still carries enough energy through the pins to strike.
The Savvy Hook 4.0 Solid reactive coverstock gives it reliable traction. The Vintage Light Bulb symmetric core is a nod to the original Rhino shape and gives a smooth, even roll. Brunswick rates it a 64 on its reaction shape strength scale in the High Performance, All Purpose category. It works well as a control piece for higher-rev players and as a dependable benchmark ball for league bowlers.

Brunswick Purple Rhino Pro Bowling Ball FAQ
How is the Purple Rhino Pro different from the regular Rhino?
The standard Rhino is an entry-level ball with an R-16 reactive cover. The Purple Rhino Pro moves up to Brunswick's High Performance level with a Savvy Hook 4.0 Solid cover, a thick-shell design and the Vintage Light Bulb core, so it has more traction and hitting power while keeping a smooth, controllable motion.
Who is the Purple Rhino Pro designed for?
It suits bowlers who want control more than maximum hook, especially higher-rev players who need a ball that won't overreact. League bowlers will also find it a reliable benchmark ball.
What lane conditions is it best for?
It is an all-purpose ball that performs well on medium conditions and on tricky patterns where a predictable reaction matters more than raw strength.
What does a thick-shell design do?
A thicker cover shell raises the RG and lowers the differential. The ball gets easier length, flares less, and moves more smoothly at the breakpoint. Please note that the thick shell design is only available on the 15 and 16 pound versions. Weights 12 through 14 feature an outer core to maintain similar RG and differential numbers.
What is the factory finish?
It comes out of the box at 500, 1000, 1500 Siaair with Crown Factory Compound.
What weights are available?
The Purple Rhino Pro comes in 12 to 16 lbs.
What is the warranty?
Brunswick covers it for two years from the purchase date.
